Remembering Phil Allen

With heavy hearts, we want to let you know that Phil Allen — a beloved, beautiful man who was with us from our earliest days – has passed away at the age of 89.

When Phil was 27, his friends helped him escape from the Saskatchewan Institution where they were kept against their will. They figured he was the one most likely to make it and come back to help them.

They were right. For the past 50 years Phil has been a tireless advocate for closing institutions and tilting mindsets that equate disability with segregation.

Phil has taught us many things and has made a significant impact in the world and in all of our lives. We send our love and support to Wendy, the family, and their very closely knit Network.

Details of the service will be shared when they are available.
