Autumn is a time that that we can re-energize ourselves by charting out plans together with our networks. It takes a bit of juggling to get everyone together but when we do, the magic can happen! We revisit our hopes and dreams and start to think about the ways we can keep working toward our vision.
In this excerpt from Safe and Secure, Al and Vickie wrote eloquently about the meaning of “VISION”:
What is a vision?
Visions are creations of the heart as well as of the mind. A vision is your description of a desired future. A vision is about passion—our passion for the future economic and social well-being of our families. This is why it is so important to address dreams as well as nightmares. Fears, worries, hopes, and dreams are all keys to unlocked passion.
A clearly written statement of your vision will help focus our attention. Since a vision reflects our values, traditions, and family history, it creates a context for the other components of our Personal Future Plans.
Clarifying and sharing our vision of a desired future for our families:
- enables us to see the world through each other’s eyes
- invites the involvement of other members of the family
- encourages others to understand what is involved in our plans
- gets them thinking as to how they can help and be more engaged
- brings preferred and desirable scenarios into the open
- suggests new opportunities
- moves you forward
- changes the present
