In our most recent session of the small group Future Planning conversations, participants gathered to discuss key elements of end-of-life planning and the organization of personal affairs, particularly in relation to the care of loved ones. The workshop provided valuable guidance on two main topics, which are fundamental to the thoughtful preparation of future needs.
Topics Explored During the Session:
Planning for a Good Death: This segment focused on pages 8 and 9 of the “Final Act of Kindness” workbook. The discussion centered on how to approach end-of-life matters with the dignity they deserve, ensuring that wishes are respected and clearly communicated.
Logistics About Your Loved Ones (Pages 32-50): Often referred to as “Making Your Loved Ones ‘Book,'” this extensive section helps participants compile critical information regarding the care and support of their loved ones. This documentation is vital for ensuring that all details are organized and easily accessible to those who might need them.
Resource Availability:
Participants were encouraged to complete Section C of the workbook over the coming week. The full “Final Act of Kindness” PDF is available to guide them through this process, providing comprehensive information and templates.
Legal Assistance:
During the session, the importance of having up-to-date legal documents such as Wills was emphasized. Several attendees shared positive experiences working with Max Shilleto, a lawyer known for his expertise in this area. Max Shilleto’s contact information was provided for those seeking legal advice: mshilleto@rbs.ca.
Future Sessions:
The next session will focus on “Your Information and Affairs in Relation to Your Son or Daughter.” This upcoming session is designed to help participants organize and record essential information that pertains directly to the future well-being of their children.
These small group conversations are a part of PLAN’s ongoing commitment to support families in their journey to create a secure and thoughtful future for their loved ones. Each session builds on the foundation of shared knowledge and community support, emphasizing the importance of preparation and the value of collective wisdom.
