Exploring the Dialogue on Healthy Death: Insights from the Waiting Room Revolution Podcast

At the recent Palliative Care Conference, Sophie Yendole and I had the enriching experience of attending a presentation by Dr. Hsien, who introduced us to the “Waiting Room Revolution” podcast. One episode that particularly resonated with us features Laura Cleminson, the founder of the Pre-Dead Social Club. Laura’s unique approach and terminology, focused on “keeping the dialogue alive!” about death, are not only innovative but deeply impactful.

Laura Cleminson advocates for what she calls a “healthy death,” a concept that encourages open discussions and thoughtful preparation for life’s final chapter. Her work, highlighted in the episode we watched, brings a refreshing perspective to palliative care and the conversations surrounding it. You can watch this inspiring episode on YouTube.

For those interested in exploring more about Laura’s initiatives and her thoughts on how we can all prepare for a meaningful end-of-life experience, her professional site can be visited here, and her enlightening TED Talk is available through this link.

If you’re as moved by these discussions as we were, consider subscribing to the Waiting Room Revolution to continue exploring these essential topics. You can find the podcast on YouTube or at their main website here.

We encourage everyone in our community to engage with this material and perhaps even discuss these ideas with your Mentor and Network. Open conversations about death can lead to more informed, compassionate approaches to life and its inevitable conclusion. Let’s keep the dialogue alive and learn from each other about embracing all aspects of life, including its end.

Feel free to reach out if you have thoughts, questions, or insights you would like to share. Let’s continue this important conversation together.
