Planned Lifetime Advocacy Network (PLAN) is a nonprofit organization founded in 1989 to advance the full citizenship, belonging, and leadership of people with disabilities and their families.
PLAN is a community of people with disabilities, families, and allies working together to create a world where everyone is valued for their contributions and connected through meaningful relationships. We believe that citizenship is not about fitting into a system but about claiming the right to lead a life of purpose, connection, and security within a welcoming and inclusive community.
At PLAN, we recognize that no one succeeds in isolation. A meaningful life is rooted in relationships, opportunities to contribute, and the freedom to shape one’s own future. By creating personal support networks, fostering inclusive communities, and planning for the future, PLAN supports people with disabilities and their families in building lives of dignity, connection, and interdependence.
Our work is grounded in the belief that people with disabilities are leaders and innovators whose gifts enrich our communities. Together, we challenge ableism and exclusion by creating systems of mutual care and collaboration that honour the unique strengths and contributions of every person.
PLAN envisions a world where people with disabilities and their families are at the forefront of social change, creating communities where no one is left out and everyone has the opportunity to lead a life of belonging and value as a full and recognized citizen.
